General Dentistry
General dentistry (operative or restorative) is responsible for resolving primary problems that involve the mouth, teeth, and other related structures. These problems depict in most cases the initial contact with a dental professional.
General Dentistry entails the majority of treatments in Dentistry, always and when they are not special cases that require more of a specialization. Dentistry o General Dentistry usually involves the following treatments:
- Diagnosis of cavities or gum disease
- Prophylaxis or prevention of dental disease
- Restoration treatments
- Treatment of the inflammation of gums without surgery or other methods
In more complex cases or when the dentist considers it appropriate, refers the patient to a specialist, for example in cases of root canals, implants, oral restoration (prosthodontics), advanced aesthetics or management of pediatric patients.
